Life at the Lake ~ Renovations Series #4...

Just thought I would share a few updated pictures of the pier at the lake house, to show the progress as of Friday. And a few pictures from the upstairs unit, that will receive a remodel at a later date...

Storm clouds rolled in, as we awaited the passing of Cristobal.

Upstairs...

The picture below shows a few of the projects I did while living here full-time, years ago. I made the curtain valences, for the windows and four french doors, in the family room. The wooden chair hanging on the wall, was a cast-away found by the road waiting for trash pick-up. The cane seat was gone. Kevin cut the chair in half, and at an angle so it would rest against the wall, and I attached a bird's nest arrangement in the middle and glued iridescent glass rock down the wood.

A little closer shot of our creation. Sorry for the poor quality.
One of a pair of butterfly prints...

Creative decor for the stairs leading to the loft. To create more storage space, we enclosed the stairs. I faux painted a "block wall" and columns.

The picture of pansies, is actually a new addition. I found the signed ink print at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, for $1.99. I reframed it, and gave it a new home.
When I took the print out of the old frame, this was sketched on the back. I thought that was an interesting find! :)
A closer shot of the column...

Below is one of the tassels I bought from Susie, at Bienvenue (Susie Harris designs).

I just love her work, and she has an etsy store full of brand new designs...

Another blogger asked if we would see any of my infamous animal prints or monograms in the lake house. LOL! Unfortunately, animal prints didn't make the cut, but as you will see in the next few pictures, the monograms did! ...and one of my other loves....roosters! :)

This concludes my tour of the lake house!

Hope you all are staying cool, and enjoying your summer, despite the hot temps. It has already reached 100 degrees here today. I plan to spend the day in the A/C, catching up on some reading! ~Rhonda :)

Hi Rhonda... I have really enjoyed the tour(s) of the LakeHouse! You did an amazing job... everything looks so wonderful and warm and inviting. The faux columns are awesome! That is NOT an easy technique to master... I have tried and always fail... LOL

It is hot here, too, but you have us beat... UGH, 100s is no fun. I'm glad you'll be staying in with the A/C!! Stay cool... I'm off to read more... God bless...

Yay, I knew there had to be monograms here! The pier and the view of the lake are amazing. I even love the way the storm clouds look coming in! This is an incredible retreat you've created. I'm continually amazed at your thrift shops and the beauty you find there. I keep looking but we really don't have anything like that here. I bow down to your creativity! The chair on the wall worked out fabulous! I never, ever would have thought of that! This house just oozes love and peaceful retreat! Don't be surprised if one day you come here and find me sitting in one of those wonderful rockers on the porch just watching a storm blow in!

P.S. The table by the pansies is quite beautiful. Is it an old sewing cabinet, radio, etc? Love it! It reminds me of the style of my mom's cedar chest that my sister inherited.

Hi Rhonda, the views and the upstairs looks wonderful. It's hot here in Birmingham, AL. today also. The high is 99, but the heat index is 106. I'm also in the AC. Enjoy your day. Deb

Hi Rhonda! Oh, how beautiful! The water and the pier - oh, it's just awesome - even with the storm clouds. Now that little chair your husband cut apart - who would have thot of doing something like this? It's precious! You are one little creative thing! And the faux painting you did on your walls, it's great! And you have a tassel from Susie, don't you just love her work? And I spy a ROOSTER! I love those guys too! I have certainly loved your lake house tour. Thank you so much for coming to see me. I'm working on the shower for Heather. That will be so much fun.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Rhonda that little table you spoke of, I found it at a furniture store that just cropped up on the hwy to my house called Kayser and it is no longer there. I've had it for about 6 years it had been packed away for a while.I found something to use it for, when I put it out on the screen porch and now I've decided to bring it in. Deb

Rhonda...that walk down that pier is just breath-taking! I love that chair on the wall! What a great way to reuse it! And I <3 your green Rooster! Where did you get it?

Thanks for your suggestions on my hallway/hamper area. I think a black frame would look better on that picture, I never thought of that! Thanks!

The greenery was a Target' find, lol...but unfortunately not a clearance find...it was a Smith and Hawkens item so it was more $$ than I really wanted to spend that day...but I just had to have it. All it really is, is a black square shaped pot and then what I think are bay leaves, or something similar. It's simple but it's nice, too.

I really love your home, I hope you enjoyed your day :) Please come back tomorrow, I will be posting my kitchen, ugh, ugh! lol ;)

Hi again! I am soooo jealous! What a gorgeous spot. I dream of living on a lake someday. The inside is as beautiful as out. Very clever ideas. The chair split is so creative, love the butterfly prints and adore monogrammed anything! Great Job - Enjoy the water, Jeannette
