Have any idea what all the different objects below have in common???
Last week, I decided to paint the other two walls in my dining room dark olive green. After painting the accent wall and powder room years ago, there was little left in the can. So off to Wal-mart I went to get another batch. As I was coming out of Wal-mart in the garden section, the very elderly Wal-mart greeter motioned for my receipt. I knew she was going to ask for it, ...duh? But without thinking, I'd stuck in my pocketbook. She said to me, "Oh, looks like you are going to be painting!" "Yes mam," I replied, as I bent over to sit both paint cans on the ground, attempting to locate the receipt. When the lady caught sight of the top on my head, she said, "Oh, it looks like you have already started!" ....."NO, I haven't, I just have really bad roots that are in dire need of a touch-up!" Well, I didn't actually say that to her, but that is what I was thinking! LOL!
So off to the salon I went Saturday morning, foregoing all but one beloved yard sale, to get my roots done! As I was sitting with my head over the wash bowl, ...processing, my SIL walked in. I proceeded to tell her about my slightly embarrassing experience at Wal-mart, in which she replied, "that was awfully rude of that lady!" Notice, that I made reference to her age at the beginning of the story. I can only hope that due to her age, she wasn't being rude in the least, but because of her eyesight, she honestly thought my roots were of the same dark paint I was purchasing! "smiles"
Which brings me to what color my roots now are!
No, it isn't a display of products AT the salon, it is my stash....all the goo that goes in my hair!
Shampoo to maintain the color, one product to make it silky, while another gives it a healthy shine. One to lift my roots and keep them from drooping, another keeps the rest of my hair from frizzing. One to hold the style as I blow-dry it, and an extra hold once it is complete. Luckily I have "connections," and get my products half price! ;)
I would love to hear if you have any humorous "Hair Tales!" I'll share another with you later in the week! ...or how many products it takes to keep you going. How many of you remember what your natural color is??? LOL!
It may appear that I am high-maintenance, but really I'm not! :) I do my own nails!

I do my own nails. I color my own hair, use shampoo, conditioner, mousse, hairspray, and a shine spray. All of the products I use are the Cheap brands.
I do go get a haircut every six weeks.
I can't believe the lady said that...Old people are like children...LOL
I'm blonde so my roots get darker and after having 2 children...well...the hair just goes crazy...
going gray for me won't be a bad thing...it will just lighten my hair and roots and keep me from getting the highlights...when you find the magic product...post about it...I'll be waiting to here:)
I haven't had my hair colored in years. Not since I lived in Hawaii and I went blonder than my natural color. I liked it, but it's a pain to keep up. I LOOOOOVE that Chi Silk Infusion. It's one of the few things I use in my hair every day. As a matter of fact, it's so hot here, I hardly use a hair dryer anymore.
I just did the same thing this weekend. Went a few shades darker so I don't look like a sun bleached blonde. I like it but think it could be a little darker. Next time maybe!

Thanks for stopping by my place! Now, about the products... it goes in cycles for me. Some days, I use lots of stuff to make me feel pretty. Other days, I just go as me and only use a few. Hubs likes it when I go as me and that makes it okay!

That's a very funny tale but it actually did happen to me. We were painting over the red walls of my son's bedroom & I bent over & put my head right in the primer white that I had just put on the wall.
Since I have dark brown hair, it did look like I had a chunk of gray in there (which I don't - yet).
That was a couple of months ago & there are still a couple of spots that I'm trying to get out with my nails.
I celebrated my 40th birthday by having a friend dye my hair, something I swore I'd never do but I was going gray and my husband didn't have a gray hair on his head!! He still only has one or two gray hairs, so UNFAIR! I dye my hair but am pretty much a K-Mart blue light special when it comes to the foofy things about maintainance! Thus, another reason for no pictures!
I just had a feeling that we had a lot in common! I'm going to show Brianna your comment about the blanket though bz this drives her crazy about me! I was surprised with this post though to find out you were blonde! I'll have to reformat that picture I have in my head of you!!

My mom just went in to get her hair touched up too, to go a little darker-She came out blonde just like you! But it looks great on her. My husband uses head and shoulders and nothing else either! Too funny.

I had to laugh at this one..sorry. I too have ..shh..gray roots. I did it..I said it. ugh. I feel better now. I want to go lighter cause my hair is black all on it's own. Not counting the grays dropping in to stay a while. The darker the hair the more my grays show up. I need a little help soon. I just cut all of my hair off and now Im thinking I may do a little damage, hehe.

I had very dark hair, when I was young and always promised myself to be blonde when my hair turned grey. I had it done by a stylist. A medium blonde with sunkissed highlights. It cost a fortune to keep it up, since my hair grows very fast. My attempts to do it myself were sad!! Then almost three years ago, I decided to let it grow out. Now it's white, mostly.
My daughter is a hairdresser, so I have had my hair every color except black. It's fun to just let her do what she wants to do. Thanks for sharing your funny story.
I have dark brown hair but have been coloring it red since....well I don't remember!!!
I don't call it coloring my hair. I say, "returning it to the color God meant it to be". I figure since I have fair skin and freckles the hair color was an oversight in the grand plan of ME!
I was my hair with a shampoo and conditioner combo and then use a little mouse. That's it!
I don't do my nails...they are au natural! I don't even wear make up. I'm about a low maintenance as they come.

Yes, Upward has soccer and flag football! We know the Vice President who used to be the Director. My DH claims to have 'raised' him in the youth program at our previous church. He ended up at our current church as their first Rec Minister. Years later, Upward got him. His parents go to our current church now as well. His mom is in one of my fitness classes.

I change my hair color w/ the seasons too! During the summer I get lowlights and highlights..but come september, I only get low lights..I love it, its so fallish. My FAVORITE hair product...(and it was in your pic) CHI..Silk Infusion. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that stuff. Its expensive, but it lasts a long time, a little goes a long way.
I have a standing hair appt each Thursday at 9:30...regardless of most anything I am there to get my "do". I have had various shades of blond and frosted for 40 plus years...never going to a natural color (which is brown with some grey thrown in). I can do lots of things - but fixing hair is not one of them...so I get pampered once a week and I love it.
Oh yeah, I am one of those older women who gets her hair teased a bit and the hair style stays in all week ...I have very good healthy hair and an absolutely fabulous hairdresser.
I can honestly say that I've been blonde my whole life. As I started getting older, my blonde started getting darker, and that's when I gave Mother Nature a little help in the hair color department. I've actually tried to go darker and I end up not liking it and changing it back. So, I guess I'm just tacky for having blonde hair all year! But I don't wear white shoes after Labor Day, so at least I've got that right. LOL.
I don't use a lot of products... shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray. Oh, and haircolor of course, but I don't do that myself. And I use my hairdryer and curling iron everyday too. Like you, I use the good brands but I have someone buy them for me at a discount. I've been wondering about those root lifters. Do they work?
So I have a funny story very similar to your Walmart story. Before my hubby and I were dating, when we were just friends/acquaintances I saw him once in the grocery store. He has very dark hair, and the first place he started getting gray was in this patch in the center, just above his hairline. Well, back then I didn't know that. When I saw him,he was dressed like he'd been working on a project at home and I saw the strands of white in his hair and actually asked him if he'd been painting. I have yet to live that one down. Luckily, he married me anyway!

I must admit that I am a little bit of a shampoo snob..I buy organic ones without sulfate and some from the salon. So, I use a good shampoo & conditioner and then a little gel as I have some curl and that's it. I do color, sometimes at home or the salon when I have extra $$$. They charge so much for a color. I try to keep the color I was born with...
I'm a girly girl and love it :)

I hear you. I’m a Hairstylist, and I have a client that I refuse to sell her any products anymore. She must have tons of then stash away. The funny thing is that she comes to see me every week. Can you believed.

I am a wash and wear girl most days...I do have to use leave-in conditioner cause I have fine hair that is naturally curly and it tends to totally frizz out in most kinds of weather. Other than that, I am not partial to any brands. I do have to color my hair every once in awhile cause the greys are startin to sneak up on me already! (thanks genetics!) I usually buy Loreal..cause I am worth it! Hehehee.

I have several bottles of hair product myself. Several for when I want it to be it's natural curly self and several more for when I want to go straight. Several to keep the color and several to defrizz yet add body! Yikes!

When we first moved here 15 years ago, my hair was dark blonde. One day I decided to have "glitz" applied. It was supposed to make my hair look sun-streaked. Imagine my horror when I discovered that I had been turned into a platinum blonde! My kids noticed immediately and made fun of me. After three days without a comment from my husband (your Uncle Larry), I said, "Do you notice anything different about me???" He did not, and I had to TELL HIM that my hair was now a totally different color! That man!!! Can't wait to see "the new you"!

There aren't enough hair products in the universe to make my hair beautiful. Which pretty much takes the pressure off because there is no sense even trying. I just embrace it's limpness...and revel in it's drabness!
I'm about to cut all mine off. It's still over 100 degrees out...I'm tired of it...and it would be so much easier to have short hair. Also, we live in AZ where we don't have the white rule. We also wear shorts and tanks year round. :-)
I am still chuckling. I found out when my hair grew back in after chemo that I am not grey...I am white! So color is my friend. I laughed so hard because I use about 4 products on a regular basis. My hubby is losing his grey hair...but he will ONLY go to a barber not a hair salon even if men are in there. Ad he doesn't DO his hair, he combs it. He wouldn't be caught dead using a product but shampoo...and really, I think that is only because I buy it and it is there...he probably would just use body soap!
Hey...you know...whatever it takes to make us feel confident to face the world!!! Bring on the products...I haven't found one that really does what I want it too!!!

My natural color is dishwater blonde though now it's a very dark ashy blonde. I usually get highlights and lowlights.
I get my hair done at the salon, but did it myself for over 15 years (so I figure the money I saved all those years will pay for having it done by pros now!). :)
I use so many products 'cause nothing seems to do it all. I use volumizing and conditioning shampoos and conditioners. Then leave-in creams and volumizing sprays and hair spray, of course! I vary which ones I use from day to day.
I know I have a few hair stories from the past, but too long for right now!
I know your talking about hair on this post, but I gotta know where you got the flower pot lady ???I love that and have been hunting one!

Oh girl don't get me started on hair!!!...I have went in many a time to get my roots touched up...even had a picture and one time even had a lady standing in there whose hair color was what I was looking for..ohhhh I have left a salon many a time looking like a hussy and went and sat in the car and cried! I have done my own hair many a time and if it didn't turn out...I'd throw a scarf on my head and run to town and have it redone in no time...I have had every shade known I think...Like you when I was younger I had the thickest and easiest to care for hair...now It is thinning and trying to maintain these gray roots is a full time job! But thank goodness I have found a place that I can go get my foils done and I come home with a smile on my face! lol I'm with you...in the Fall I like alittle darker highlights with some carmel & copper mixed in! It sounds good anyway! lol Have a great day girl!
Sorry I don't have any "hair raising" tales for you! I am pretty lucky with my hair, one of my friends suffers from alopaceia (sp?) and I wouldn't wish that on anyone but someone who was truly nasty and evil. It's so hard for her to cope with!
Sorry to hear about that lady... I tink she wasn't trying to be rude, she just said whatever came up to her mind. Now for the "hair tale"... I think I was 25 when I was puting my hair up and a friend of mine said "hey Vanessa I think you got a white thread in your hair" I wondered because I wasn't doing anything with any white thread... so she came up close and touched my hair and yep! it was a long white hair!!! oh well... I guess I got from my mom... now I'm 28 with a head full of "white" hair...

Hi Rhonda! Too funny, don't kid yourself some elderly ladies can be very rude cuz they think they can get away with it! But we'll give her the benefit of doubt!lol Now I am fortunate at 52 just a few grays and I am actually looking forward to seeing what I'll look like all gray?(for a day??)I tried color only once and looked like a carrot dipped in gold leaf!! I gave up on fighting straight hair years ago and only use shampoo alternating between one with conditioner and one without! Wash, blow dry EVERY day and done. I use to spend TONS of money on coloring my hair. TONS!!! Then I couldn't afford one year and after MY hair grew out. My hubby, and lots others actually compliment me. Strangers think it is colored. Boy do I save money. Wjen I was a teenager I use to color by buying store colors. I've ALWAYS had to then pay to have it fixed. Actually my Mom did. hehe. oh no.

I don't think the older lady at the store meant any harm. It's probably something I would have said then regretted!
At 52 with very very dark hair, the grey comes in about 5 minutes after I color it. But I found that keeping it short hides the grey for a long time.
No more black, sexy mane down to my waist. Oh I do wish I was still in my 20's!
Oh and it takes 4 products to do my hair on an average day.

Oh My! Bless the lil old Walmart greeter lady... I agree with you, she must have poor vision!
I used to have very long hair, but as my health declined, it became more and more painful to maintain it... soooo, off it came! Now it is very short, no curl. I've always kept my own hair color, dark, dark, dark brown. The grey showed up when I was 45, but only in the front (bangs)... and just a few. However, they really stood out against the dark brown and my son told me one day that I had "strings" in my hair! LOL ...off to the store for some Natural Instincts color!
To this day, I still only have grey in my bangs, and I still cover it. When they begin to show, the guys never miss a chance to tell me that I have "strings" in my hair, again! Gotta love 'em!
Ohhh... as far as products, etc. go; all-in-one Pert, towel dry, comb, end of story. You won't find a hair dryer in our house! Thanks for a great post! God bless...

I have always said that I am to self maintenance to be high maintenance.
I need some color too. I'm only 33 and I already have gray. Must have gotten that from my dad's side of the family because my mom did not get any gray until she was about 48 or maybe even 50.
i use to be really good about coloring my hair (read gray) but finally got sick of the touch ups(i have very long hair). so now i am au naturel. i am super lazy about my hair, i wash it, then let it dry naturally. if my daughter hasnt taken all my hair products i put one on for the frizzies and one for curl, and even thats too much for me!!! oh i started going gray when i was 19!
