{thrifty kitchen treasures}

Oh, How I Just LOVE a Bargain!!!
I'm repeating myself, I know!
But I never tire of saying it, or finding those one of kind inexpensive treasures that add a little pleasure to my life.
The white ironstone pitcher above, characterized with sweet, aged grazing, was a recent yard sale find for a couple of dollars.
It sits on my kitchen table, filled with fragrant gardenias from my yard that smell heavenly!
Also in my breakfast nook area,
the three plates below have looked kind of lonely for quite awhile.
But, I haven't been able to find just the right plates to add to the collection.

However, at a local thrift store last week, I stumbled across these two Bordallo/Portugal plates, for $1.99 each.

....just what I have been looking for!
Below, the old pitcher sits on the kitchen table.

Yep, love a bargain! It's those simple, thrifty treasures that make my heart sing! :)

O, Scooter...you found just the PERFECT plates to add to your others. And, great ones for such a low price. Not sure if you might know but old ironstone is a passion of mine, too. That magnificent pitcher would have cost high dollars in an antiques store or even on Ebay. You did get a fabulous buy! And it looks like a million dollars with those lovely flowers in it...
GOOD JOB, SCOOTER GIRL...

Those plates absolutely were meant to be put together!! I absolutely adore that vase. I swear all our thrift stores just carry junk. I can't ever find anything this nice. As for Ashley's first name, if you told me I forgot but I think I would have remembered where she got it from! LOL! I love it. Life has spun out of control around here, that's for sure. It's only a little over three weeks until the wedding. I'm so excited for them. Now that he's moved out I don't see him too much but I do get a call almost every day and that's a good thing. Jill has absolutely made his life complete and I'll love her forever for that. Thanks sooooo much for stopping by. I'm glad to see you around more!

Good Morning Miz Rhonda,
I took your advice and put up a post for 2nd Time Around *smiles* Thanks for reminding me of Miz Diane's weekly party.

What a beautiful pitcher! Wow! It's so lovely, I'm developing my own little addiction to the creamware pieces. And your plates are just as beautiful. What a lucky find and they look great displayed with your other ones. Your whole dining area is simply beautiful how you have it all decorated. I love your style *smiles*

Question: Do you use those plate hanger thingies or do you have a secret trick? I'm going to be hanging some in my kitchen and would love to know. Thanks!

I love your pitcher and the plates. The crackly finish on the pitcher is neat. I have some plates that have done that over time. Your plates on the wall look fantastic!

Rhonda, thanks for coming over to my blog and for your comment. I do have a very thoughtful husband. This pitcher with the gardenias in it looks delightful. I love the way gardenias smell and hope to grow some in my yard someday when we have a house. Kelly
