Blue Workshop...

This is my first Monday to participate in Blue Monday, hosted by Sally, over at Smiling Sally.

Saturday, David took part in the children's workshop offered every other week at Lowe's.
He made the "blue" semi-truck and car below, and really enjoyed the class.

It was free, and I would recommend the classes to anyone who has children and live close to a Lowe's Home Improvement Store.

He was even wearing a "blue" shirt....not planned, but what a coincidence! LOL!

Lowe's provided goggles, a work apron, kid's hammer, and a kit with LOTS of pieces and instructions. The children were to work independently with their parents.

I was intimidated and asked David if he would rather take it home and let his dad help him. But he assured me "he worked construction this summer, along side our carpenters, and this was way easier...."

He followed the instructions and did a great job assembling the truck.

Truck complete, ...time for stickers!

In two weeks, they will be making a football goal game. And I believe a fire truck is next, then a Gingerbread House on December 7th. He has invited his sister to join him for the Gingerbread House, and promised to "help" her with her project! :)

After the Lowe's Workshop,
Ashley and I, left David with his Dad, and headed to Lumberton.
It's a little town not far from us, that has just a few more shops than we do, (which is not saying much! LOL).

I missed the yard sales, but Ashley and I found a cute thrift store will we were out.

Below are my finds for the day. Not much, but I was pleased with the items nonetheless.

Ashley also found a few things.
(She is an avid thrifty too!)

A red and white zebra to match her zebra bedroom decor. Red Christmas ornaments for her tree, and another snow globe. She collects snow globes and has 14 Christmas ones.

In the background, on her table sits a picture of Ashley and her cousin Katie when they were around 4, playing dress up! Weren't they cute? :)

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! ~Rhonda :)

I bet David did have a blast...and the stories he will "brag" about to his friends.

Looks like some mighty fine "thrifty" finds for both you and Ashley.

I found 7 glasses that were given in Duz detergent back in the 60's for 25 Cents each...they are badly etched from hard water...so don't know if they will clean up very good or not.

What a wonderful idea Lowe's has going! And FREE! Can't beat those prices. Your bargain shopping always amazes me; I don't go often, and I never find anything! I think I don't know what to look for. Happy 1st Blue Monday!

This is my first week on Blue Monday too. Happy blue Monday to you!

I've heard of these classes, but we've never done them. Glad to see it was so successful, and what a great experience for your son! I think we'll have to try one in the future. Thanks for posting on this.

I didn't even know they offered these classes. How fun for you and David. He did a fantastic job! We went to a workshop for pine wood derby cars when my oldest was in cub scouts. I had so much fun helping him design and do his car with the power tools. Of course, I had used power tools so I wasn't too scared of it. Speaking of Nicholas, he's really sick today and we spent quite a bit of time last night at the InstaCare and ER with him. Not having insurance makes it really hard to get anyone to see him. I haven't seen him cry since he was a little boy and it breaks my heart. The Lortab doesn't seem to be working and the GI cocktail did absolutely nothing to relieve his pain. I think it will be a short day at work while I take him back to the hospital. I just don't know. Sorry, TMI.

Kyle and I love the Lowe's workshops.

Great finds too...

I'm catching up on post...if you haven't finished....try vinegar and water to get the wall paper off...works better than anything else...

That had to be so much fun for David. He sounds like a pro!!! That was too funny about working construction this summer! He must make you smile all the time. I love his finished project and the pictures of him creating it. He looks like a natural. I would love to go make the gingerbread house. Too bad there isn't a Lowe's around here!

I'm also glad to see that you and Ashely had a productive day as well!

take care,
Dawn
