{Homecoming Court '09}

During my blogging break, Ashley was involved in her school Homecoming.
She was a Sophomore Representative for the Court.
{Oh, how is pains me to type....SOPHOMORE! My "baby girl" is growing much too fast!}
Since her school doesn't have a football program, they host Homecoming during Basketball Season.
Recognize her escort? ....yes, it's Josh.
She doesn't have a "boyfriend,"
{does my sigh of relief transcend the screen??? LOL!}
...so for the second year in a row, she asked Josh to escort her.
Ashley's friends think Josh is "a hottie," AND he is a SENIOR, so that gives her bragging rights of a sort! LOL!
{But don't tell anyone, the girls swore me to secrecy! ;) }

They were so funny...
Notice in the picture above that both of them have their heads down, as they walked out on the court. Ashley was trying not to trip on the lights and cords, and Josh was concentrating hard, not to step on Ashley's dress.

Ashley is "old school" about some things. At 15, she still believes that formal gowns and Easter dresses should be very big and very fluffy. Crinoline is her friend! She would have fit well into the Southern Bell dresses of the 80's, huh? :)

I included a picture, below, of last year as a Freshman Representative...

Josh said he would gladly escort her next year, if she liked, but she had to get a smaller dress! Much too stressful trying to sideswipe the big skirt!
When the girls are Seniors, they ask their dad's to escort them, isn't that sweet! :)

During half-time, the cheerleaders did a routine with a stunt.
Being a sophomore, Ashley cheers on both the Varsity Squad {girls in black}, and the Junior Varsity Squad {in red shirts, of which she is one of the three Captains}.

This is our last week of games....Varsity Tournament until Saturday,
{at which I am cheering which much enthusiasm!}
As the season comes to an end, the kids ....and parents are ready for a break! :)
~~~
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
And Thanks for your encouraging and sweet comments on yesterday's post! It's good to be back! ~Rhonda
Oh my gosh Rhonda, Ashley has grown up so much since the last pictures you posted of her and the one's on the sidebar. What a beauty she is! She is leading a very busy life isn't she with cheer and other things? I'm so glad you shared this. I love her dress, but then again I love the old foofie Southern Belle dresses too!
P.S. I give a big sigh of relief too that Kaje' doesn't have a boyfriend either. I have discouraged my kids from high school romances. Life's too short and in Utah they marry so much younger (18 for girls, 21 for boys on average) than other places that I just want them to go out and have fun with lots of people during their teen years!
Ashley looks soooo pretty. I love her big poofy dress...LOL
That is so nice of her to ask Josh and for him to accept. So funny about her needing to get a less poofy dress LOL
I'm glad your back!
Love the dresses - for both years! My daughter is sitting beside me doing homework, and looked up at my screen and said, "nice dress!" Think I'm in trouble! :O)
Hi Rhonda,
Ashley is so pretty...I know you must be so proud.
I just read your other post, and understand how you feel. I don't think I have a theme either, and sometimes I question why I do it.
Then my mom will mention my aunt looking at it, and how much pleasure she gets out of it...so that is why I continue...for the small handful of people that enjoy it!
Take the pressure off yourself and blog when you want to! I've enjoyed reading your blog and seeing your lovely home and family!
Your daughter is gorgeous! I have a 15 year old daughter myself and love every minute we have together! We homeschool, so we miss much of the happenings at the public school. Kali did get to go to the homecoming dance this year and got all dressed up. She's not into crinolines - lol! I hear great pride and lots of love in your words.
I have no idea how I got to your blog. Thanks for letting me stop in :O).
There is always a place for you at The Shadow of the Cross. Feel free to visit anytime.
She looks BEAUTIFUL. And I think it's cute that he is so good about being her escort. No boyfriend is a very good thing for a mommy lol
Rhonda,
Your daughter is gorgeous! I love her big poofy dress! I always wore big poofy dress to my proms/dances too. I think they are so much prettier (and appropriate) than some of the things I've seen some girls wearing! My momma would've never let me out of the house with some of the things I saw people wearing at prom and other dances!
Hi Rhonda! First I applaud Ashley for looking so pretty! Most of the girls I've seen go to these dances looking like Vegas Show Girls!!!lol Her dress is gorgeous! And that handsome guy is none too shabby either! How sweet the dads escort them; my husband and daughter used to do the daddy/daughter dances and always won the dance contest (of course that was grammer school!lol) As far as sports my daughter used to pitch in softball and I was always glad when tournaments were OVER! Yes they do grow up way too fast! Have a great weekend - Sincerely, Jeannette
That is so sweet. I love Ashley's "old school" dress - she has good taste (hmmm, I wonder where she got that from). Oh and Josh is a handsome guy, too. Especially in that pretty tie. ~ Robyn
