{a few new projects...}

Still haven't found my camera, so I borrowed Ashley's.
Not use to her camera, so please excuse the quality of the pics! :)

~~~
Our house will be on a Local NC Festival House Tour in about a month and a half.
When I was first asked, I was very hesitant.
My house is NOT done by a professional, ...just ("inadequate" feeling) ME!
{...and of course all the talented ladies in blogland I sometimes "borrow" wonderful ideas from! ;) }
And our house is nice, but not "brand new," as are some of the others on the tour.
I volley between negative and positive feelings! LOL!
Anyhow...
Kevin and I have been cleaning and working like mad, on various projects.
Now that we will be "showing" the house, I notice more and more little things that need attention and repair. Such as the stool above. We have two, one on each side of the sofa. One was in good condition, the other...not so much.
They were a Big Lots find four years ago, and aren't "fine furniture," so I was reluctant to have them recovered. After toying with the idea for quite awhile on slip-covering them, I finally decided to tackle them with my trusty glue gun.
I purchased burlap fabric and brown trim, and went to work....
~I "heart" burlap!!!~
Continuing the upholstery process...
They turned out really cute!
They aren't as light as they appear in the pics, but my only regret, is that I didn't use a little darker burlap for more contrast. They blend with the wall and floor.
But for the total price of $10-$11, {$6 for burlap & $4.50 brown cording trim}, I am very pleased.
I also made pillows for two of the dining chairs, from the fabric used for my window treatments.
I actually sewed these instead of glue-gunning them! :) LOL!
I added a small ruffle on the one side of each pillow, facing out.
Again, I apologize for the pictures...
On the buffet, I added dried pale green hydrangeas to the pitcher, that I purchased off of eBay. They are very fragile, but beautiful!
I'm off to do a little closet cleaning now!
Hope you are all enjoying the 1st Day of Fall! ~Rhonda
How exciting!! Your house will look gorgeous...and what a fabulous transformation of your ottomans...what would it look like to have a trim around the bottom so that it doesn't blend in with the carpet??? I love what you've done!
or if you can't find the same trim, maybe a velvet wide ribbon or grosgrain ribbon the same color???
Great job Rhonda...I am impressed...the stools look wonderful. I'm sure you will have a great time. Remember to have something that smells really good when people walk in the door....and on one tour one house had a tray on the bed with a beautiful napkin, tea cup, faux sweet or pastry....it was beautiful.
Can't wait to hear about all your projects!
Blessings,
Debbie
OH, but I love love the little pillow you made with a ruffle on just one side! I may have to borrow that idea from you. The fabric is so beautiful! I love it!
Do you want to come and cover our golfcart seat? LOL I am too intimidated to even do THAT!
You've done a wonderful job Rhonda your house will stand up to and dare I even say out-shine the new ones. You have such a great eye for decor!
I'm sure your home will be the star of the tour! I have two ottomons that I keep putting on recovering bz I'm scared it will look worse than before I started! There isn't anything wrong with the fabric but I bought them on clearance and the color is wrong for the rooms. I guess I just need to be brave like you and just do it! You did a great job.
Congrats Rhonda! How exciting to be asked to show your gorgeous home. I think it's stunning and will be a favorite on the tour.
LOVE your dining room. I hope we get to see even more of your home pics as well.
Thanks for your kind visit! It's always good to hear from you. I do miss NRPottery. You are so lucky to have them now! Ours was really inexpensive. Plus they had coupons all the time and sales. I'm wondering if they raised the prices due to the move and the economy. Hmmm...
~Blessings my friend, ~Melissa :)
That would be so fun, but stressful too to have people tour your home. But, it does make you do cleaning and projects you have been meaning to I guess. Your house looks beautiful to me! Thanks for your very sweet comment. Hope you do the framed pumpkin!
Rhonda, don't you dare doubt your home!!! It is GORGEOUS!! I'll bet it will be one of the favorites on the tour! Nothing like "guests" coming to make you look at things in a new light!lol Your burlap covers are beautiful and I adore the pillow! You've inspired me to look at burlap in a new light! You have excellent taste so open those doors up!!! (Wish I could come!!) Have a fun weekend - Sincerely, Jeannette
Congratulations on the house tour!! That is so exciting! Do not feel inadequate about your home. Just remember- it may be on tour with brand new houses but those houses were built fresh to certain specifications. Think of how your home looked when you first bought it and what you have turned it into!!!! YOU did that! YOU had the vision of what it could be and brought it to it's current state of beauty. THAT is something to be VERY proud of.
Secondly- I don't care what camera you use, you can not take a bad picture of that dining room! It is just too beautiful! I love your pillows and, of course, the dried hydrangeas!!
Oh how I wish I could be in NC the weekend of your home tour. Talk about inspiration!!
Hope you will share it virtually for us!
Blessings
Heather:)
I'm so excited for you about the upcoming tour of homes ... you know I've always admired your talents and the ways you're always making your home so warm 'n inviting ... the other folks in the tour should be honored to be included with you! Just love the "new" stool and other tweaks you've done ... and, I don't see anything wrong with your photos ... but I do understand the frustration of not having your own camera ... hope all's going well ...
~ hugs ~
