A Great Read...

I had another post planned for the weekend. But it seems that I am AGAIN having camera issues! With no pictures, that post will have to sit on the backburner awhile.

I dropped many hints about needing a new camera for Christmas, but must not have been clear or loud enough! {LOL!} Oh well, my birthday is in April, maybe I'll be a little more persistent! {smiles}

I decided to share a great book that I read over the New Year, by a "new to me" author, Beth Wiseman. My MIL sent it to me. We are both avid readers and share a love of similar books. One of those being Amish novels! They are usually very wholesome and uplifting, and just plain good! {No pun intended, ...read on, you'll get it in a second. :) }

The book, Plain Perfect, was the first in a series, "Daughters of the Promise." I do believe it was one of the best fiction novels I've read centered around the Amish. I don't want to give too much away, but it was a wonderful book. A good, easy read, about finding the answers to life and what is really important. Echoing my MIL who said, "the first page had you hooked and you couldn't put it down!"

After looking on Beth Wiseman's web site, I found that this is a 5 book series, and can't wait to read the rest! The second and third book is also out....
And the fourth is scheduled for release in March 2010.

So, if you are like me, trying to stay in and warm, {it is unseasonably cold here in the Carolinas}, and are looking for a great read, I highly recommend this series!

Nothing like a good book to fill comfortable, lazy days! I'm familiar with Beth Wiseman and these books - I gave them to my daughter. My camera isn't really very old but I would love a new one anyway. There's one out that looks fabulous - I think it's a Nikon SLR. Good luck! Hey, Valentine's Day will be here before your birthday!

Happy New Year, Rhonda.

I'm always looking for a good clean bit of entertainment or a book that's uplifting! I'll have to pick one of these up when I finish what I'm doing now! They do look good. You're so awfully kind when you come on my blog and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your friendship too! I'm glad you're back to blogging, even if you can't post pictures for a bit! I just love talking to you. Have a great week!

Rhonda,
I always like recommendations for a great wholesome read. these look really good to me. It looks like a good time for me to settle in and read right now.
It is cold here in the west also. We hovered near zero last week at night with lots of snow.:) Our son in VA said the cold there blows right through you.
Thanks for your Happy New Year good wishes. I hope this next year is a wonderful one for your family too:)

Keep warm!

Those sound really good. I'm going to try to get them from my library. I love books that have you hooked from the beginning!

Our Oklahoma weather has also been unseasonably cold. The air just chills you to the bone! We are in for some really low temps. in the coming week.

I did get a new camera for Christmas and I am LOVING it!!! Hopefully you will get one for your birthday.♥

It is tooooo cold here in SC, too! We don't know how to act;)

I can't wait to read the series you are talking about, today - I read through books so fast, I always go to the last one in the series on the shelf and make sure I/the library have them all. If one in the middle is missing I request it so I don't have to wait:)

Another great series writer is Janette Oke - try reading some of hers when you are looking for something else!

Enjoy reading and try to stay warm!

Hello Rhonda~ There's nothing like cozening up with a good book, especially at this time of year.

I know how frustrating the camera problems can be. I did get one of the less expensive Cannons. I do get a better quality shot, but I was a tad spoiled using my son's HIGH priced camera at Christmas. His with the new macro lens we bought him took INCREDIBLE pictures.
I'm still in the camera with training wheel stage. Someday I hope to graduate to a Camera with all the bells and whistles.

I've gotten behind on my visits. I'm tending to my sick kitty, so I'm a bit distracted. Hope to see you more in twenty ten.

Sweet wishes,

Thanks for the great suggestions.

We are facing the coldest temps here in North Texas we've seen in 15-20 yrs. during the next couple of days.

BRRRR!!!
