An Early Halloween.....And Christmas...

The highlight of Halloween for Ashley and David....Pumpkin Carving!

Ashley's lip isn't that big or distorted! LOL! Anytime she draws or does anything "artistic," she sticks her tongue out to one side of her mouth. And what is really funny, Kevin and I both have also done it since childhood!

And the family tradition carries on to David...see the tongue! LOL!

David giving his pumpkin EARS....

Ashley had "difficulty" getting the top of the pumpkin off.

She cut and cut and cut...and wanted to know if we had given her a "trick pumpkin!"

Oh Me, the dear child should been "a blond!" LOL!

Finally, progress.....

Pumpkin guts were a flyin'....

...causing the pumpkins to lose their lunch.....

I know, pretty gross, huh??? LOL!

And what one does, the other has to "up it!"
(or at least copy!)

We added our frightful creations to the front porch Fall Display.

And to change gears a little, or Seasons...

Ashley and I, are headed to church tonight, to pack shoe boxes full of goodies for Operation Christmas Child. (Samaritan's Purse ~ Franklin Graham Ministry)

I look forward to putting these together every year, just imagining the little children who will receive them! :)
(Click on the picture below if you would like to learn more about this wonderful ministry...)

Items we've gathered over the last month, ready to go.

Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween! ...and enjoys plenty of treats!

Candy has no calories on Halloween, Dont'cha know??? :) ~Rhonda

Your kids looks so cute during their magic cutting on the pumpkins.

At our church we bring our "shoe boxes" already filled...and I have turned in my boxes a week or so ago. This is certainly a wonderful program...and so glad we are able to participate.

How funny! I think you should have displayed those pumpkins throwing-up though on the porch. That would have been a riot ~ don't you think????? It would have scared kids. . . that's for sure. . . would have grossed them out too!!!

Hi Rhonda... I really enjoyed the pics of the kids creating their Jack O'Lanterns... such concentration on their sweet faces! I had to laugh at Ashley thinking she'd been given a "trick" pumpkin!... LOL ... toooo funny!

We've done the same Shoe-Box ministry for years, too! I think it's a wonderful thing to do, and so easy and such a positive family effort, as well. ♥ I was so glad to see that you posted about it and provided the link for folks that might not be aware of it...

I'm slowly making my 'rounds and catching up with everyone... I dislike it so much when I fall behind like this... Hope you're having a pleasant evening... God bless...

~hugs, love ♥ 'n prayers~

Fun family activity! We haven't carved pumpkins since the kids were little, I know I get the "bad mom award" for that. Wonderful that you do these gifts for children. You are such a sweetie. Am I right that Ashley looks like you? I look at your wedding picture and I see Ashley in you! Have a happy Halloween and thanks for the tip on no calories in the candy, I think I'll steal a piece or two from the give-away bowl!! Cindy

Hello Miz Rhonda,
Thanks for taking time to post such sweet comments on my blog! I appreciate you! Love the pumpkin carving, we did a bit of that too around here so I'll need to post those pictures *smiles* Looks like your crew really got into it *smiles* Oh to be a kid again!

Yes, it's very difficult to work at HL AND still have a paycheck. I've been buying a bit of slightly scratched and dented harvest stuff (greatly reduced) to put away for son's wedding next fall. It seems there's always something to tempt me. Too bad we don't live closer to each other cause I'd share my employee discount with you!
Have a wonderfully blessed weekend and thanks again for your sweet comments!

Hmm, I still stick my tongue out without realizing it when I am involved in something LOL!

The pumpkins look great! Tim did ours last night. It's the first time I gave him a knife and the ok to use it!

My friend does the shoe box gift giving thing as well. I usually give her some things to include. I think that it is such a great idea.

Have a Happy Halloween.

take care,
