A Whole Lot of Blue Going On...

on this past Saturday,
We welcomed a sweet BLUE bundle of joy
into our family!

~ David ~

Born 5 years, 3 months, and 11 minutes after his sister.
(by David's calculations, LOL!)

A boy who loves animals...

Is pretty intelligent, although as your mother, I'm probably biased! :)

(...posing in the "Thinker" pose)

Did I mention Drama KING! :)

Is a really cool kid...

Loves adventure and is afraid of very little....

My dare devil!

Which keeps me on my toes, (and on my knees in prayer! :) )
'Cause sometimes the adventures don't turn out too well!
You keep life interesting, ....never a dull moment!
And I love you more than words could ever express!

I can't remember what life was without you TEN years ago.
I'm so glad your sister prayed for you to come....(inside family joke!)

Happy TENTH Birthday, David!

I love you, ~Mom

To share just a little more BLUE,
I'm posting my newly remodeled BLUE bedroom.
Remember a few weeks ago, I stripped the white wallpaper down?

~ Click HERE, to see the before pictures... ~

The room was bland and clinical, even after many trials with various color schemes, bedding, and accessories.
I had two factors that I needed to work with in determining the color. One, my current bedding. Not that I love the looks of it, took awhile to grow on me. Actually I detested it when I ordered it from Pottery Barn, but it sleeps so well! It is warm in the winter, yet cool enough in the summer, and just a great weight.

And secondly, the room connects to my husband's study below, which is open as a cathedral two-story room, and is painted a very dark olive green. (accidently deleted the picture).

My first choice of paint for my bedroom would have been some shade of green, which Kevin and I both love and find very soothing. But the color of the office canceled that option. My next choice, chocolate brown, which didn't work!

So I settled on a light teal-grayish blue. (It is a more subtle color than appears in the following pictures.) Compliments the green of the office well, and I really am pleased with it.

Most everything in this room I already had, though some things were "borrowed" from other rooms in the house. The only things new, were the two lamps and frames for the bird prints.

Tapestry piece I found at an antique store.

We replaced the doors in the room, and had them trimed out with new molding.

The blue print spread alone, didn't quite work. So I paired it with an off-white comforter and shams from storage.

I found the two bird prints below, on eBay....

View from the master bathroom...

The tapestry piece on this wall (below), was a gift from my MIL many years ago, found at a yard sale. It is hand-needlepoint, lined with blue velvet. ...one of my favorite pieces.

I hope to show more of our remodeling in the weeks to come, as I post my Christmas decorations. But, I've just started, so don't hold your breath! LOL!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Lots of hard work and probably some tears...but so worth it. Rhonda, so pretty...worthy of a magazine spread.

Have a fun week...looking forward to your Christmas decorations.

Very pretty. Don't you just love it when you can bring different elements to a room for such a polished look? I love your rooms and decor. Happy Blue Monday.

It's absolutely beautiful! The wall color is such a soft teal that at first I thought that it was white; however, when looking at it with the teal print, I easily see the connection. Smart choices! Happy Birthday to your cute David, and Happy Blue Day to you!

I do love your style! I wish I could see the room in person as I know my camera alters the true colors and you said this did too. You find the most wonderful things and I love how you put them together. Most of all I love that trim on the doors! It makes the best statement ever in your room! I've missed you but have been so busy I haven't had time to drop by. I'll try to be better but this is pretty typical for my winters. I've been working on a present for Savannah too that is coming together quite well and I'll post it after Christmas. I'd do it when it's done but Brianna may see it and I want her to be surprised too! Oh, happy birthday to David too! What a great thought for a blue Monday post! He sounds like such a great kid but I know he's given you a few pretty silver hairs (gray sounds so dull and lifeless)!! I hope he got to do something fun and adventurous for his birthday (just to keep your life interesting) LOL! {{{HUGS}}} Cindy

Oh, Rhonda your bedroom is beautiful!!!! It puts my room to shame. Nothing matches and things are in there to hold stuff and that's about it!!

The colors in the bedding are beautiful. I have painted our bedroom five times in 5 years, I finally like it, so trust me I understand. Sometimes it just takes awhile to get your groove.

David is such a cutie, and I know what you mean about prayers for him. I felt like we were in the Emergency Room with our son once a week! Your bedroom is gorgeous, and I love that bedding. I think the wall color IS soothing even though it is not your fav. green. It all looks so pretty. laurie
