Show & Tell Friday ~ Vacation Mementos...

This week for Show & Tell Friday, we were encouraged to post something that we found while on vacation. My favorite destination is NYC! I love the lights, the glamour, the excitement... If I were young and single, my dream would be to live in a little, shabby-chic decorated apartment, and work as a Broadway Show set designer in NYC. ...where I could go out for bagels, pizza, and cheesecake any hour, day or night. I could delve into second-hand shops, within walking distance of my home, and frequent the shows and museums!

Back to the subject at hand....Vacations & Memorabilia...

On my first vacation to NYC, with romantic notions of Holly Golightly dancing in my head, my sister-in-law, Leighann, and I, began with a trip to Tiffany & Company. We stayed for hours and took pictures of everything, including the bathroom and beautiful wood paneled elevator, complete with a door man...who echoed with a sing-song deep voice, "Going up...going down!" You can imagine how fascinated we two small-town girls were!

Leighann and I both purchased keepsakes from Tiffany's, but we were almost as excited about the "Tiffany Blue" bags and boxes that housed our new found prized possessions, as the items themselves. We saved them as mementos, as well!

So, this is what came in my blue box...a pair of crystal candlesticks.

(These lampshades are NOT purple, only appear that way in the picture. They are dark brown.)

To this day, I love these candlesticks just as much as I did when I spotted them in the showcase at Tiffany's! I plan to pass these on to my daughter, in hopes that she will cherish them as much as I did! ~Rhonda ;)

Found your site through "Show and Tell Friday". So glad I did. Although I'm probably old enough to be your Mother, we have similiar likes. I would love to redo my living room in shabby chic, my husband and I have been selling on eBay for over 10 years, and New York is my favorite all time city. I go every year for two weeks. The first week with Hubby and the second week three friends. They fly in and we have a blast. We stay in a friends apartment in Greenwich. I work all year long on strange and unique things to do and places to go off the tourist track. I'll check your blog often now that I've found you. Oh, what attracted me at first was your name, Scooterblu. Scooter was what we called our first grandson from the minute we knew our daughter was pregnant. He must have approved because he was born on my birthday. He's 15 now but I occasionally I slip and call him Scooter still. Have a great week.
I also love Tiffany's but have never been able to afford anything there yet. I do have an antique pin from a great-grandmother that is Tiffany. The candle sticks are beautiful.

Yep, there's something about those blue boxes that gets a girl excited! I have a couple silver bracelets and necklaces from there and I can never bear to throw away my boxes. Your candle sticks are gorgeous and I love your lamps too!

There you go "teasing" me again with little snippit pictures of your home! I love those candlesticks! Classic, elegant, and timeless- good pick!
How is your closet coming along? Did you find your containers? Isn't organization totally frustrating and totally gratifying at the same time?!? LOL! In the center of your house!? Oh! I would be in a panic too- at least I can hide the "danger zone" behind closed doors!! he he
Isn't that the neatest thing? I found that baby ticker thru another blog and went to baby astrology to add it to my blog. It is fun but makes me nervous to see that the days are passing by quickly until our little girl gets here! Ahhh!!! And sometimes that little baby spins around in hyper speed and makes me dizzy! LOL
Thank You so much for stopping by again- I so enjoy your visits and your comments!!! They make my day!
